Ben Peloquin

I am a Sr. Staff AI Data Scientist and Technical Lead at Meta AI, where I work in the FAIR (Fundamental AI Research) group. My research focuses on dataset creation and model evaluation for multi-modal, human-centric capabilities. Recently, my work has included conversationality, social reasoning, and gesture in embodied agents and duplex speech models, as well as prosody- and speaker-preserving translation models.

Before Meta, I led a team in Apple’s Siri Natural Language Understanding group, developing ML tooling that enabled non-technical teams to build and deploy on-device intent understanding models, powering Siri in over 40 locales. I previously pursued a PhD at Stanford University, working in the Computation and Cognition and Language and Cognition Labs under Professors Noah Goodman and Michael Frank. Earlier in my career, I was a Machine Learning Engineer and earned a degree in Symbolic Systems from Stanford University.

My work bridges cognitive science and machine learning, focusing on the design and evaluation of AI systems that can understand, communicate, and collaborate with people.
